Lecture Services
Disaster Action is uniquely placed to give an overview of the way in which response to the human aspects of disaster has evolved through our work and that of committed individuals within emergency planning and response - over the past 20 years. The personal stories of how disaster has affected our lives go hand in hand with the knowledge and experience we have gained through 25 different disasters.
Disaster Action members give presentations on emergency management courses and seminars run by the police, social services, emergency planners, the voluntary agencies and companies around the UK and in Europe. Members can tailor presentations according to the needs of the intended audience.
A small selection of our clients include:
- the National Police Improvement Agency, Bramshill, Hampshire
- the Cabinet Office Emergency Planning College, York
- Foreign and Commonwealth Office Consular Directorate and Wilton Park
- the British Red Cross
- the Belgian Red Cross
- the Coroners’ Officers’ Association
- Association of Train Operating Companies
- Essex County Council
- Sussex County Council
- University of Hertfordshire
- City University.
Our members talk about Disaster Action and its aims and objectives, and through our direct personal experience, encourage the professionals who respond to disaster to consider how every decision taken in the aftermath will affect the survivors and bereaved.
We also participate in national conferences on disasters, health and safety and legal issues.
Where appropriate, Disaster Action can design bespoke courses on the human aspects of disaster. For further information on how Disaster Action can contribute through this service, please contact Pamela Dix.
