25th anniversary of the sinking of the Marchioness on the Thames

Disaster Action wishes to mark the 25th anniversary of the sinking of the Marchioness on the River Thames on 20 August 1989 - we remember those who died, and pay tribute to the efforts of their families and those of the survivors to ensure greater safety for those who travel on the river.

Disaster Action was founded as a charity in 1991 by survivors and bereaved people from UK and overseas disasters. We have collective personal experience of over 30 disasters, including rail, air and maritime as well as natural disasters and terrorist attacks in the UK and overseas. The charity was founded on the principles of accountability, support and prevention.
